Dear St. Matthias Families,

Welcome to the Academy of St. Matthias the Apostle! Whether you are joining us for the first time or returning for another school year, we are delighted to welcome you to our school family.

At the Academy of St. Matthias the Apostle, we believe that education is a partnership among school, home, and parish. Together, we strive to develop students who are rooted in their Catholic faith, committed to academic excellence, and prepared to serve others with compassion and integrity.

We believe that every child is uniquely created by God and deserves an educational experience that nurtures the whole child—spiritually, academically, socially, and emotionally. Our faculty and staff are committed to creating learning environments where students are known, supported, challenged, and encouraged to use their God-given gifts.

  • Dr. Coretta N. Streat is a dedicated Catholic school leader with a passion for cultivating faith-filled learning environments where students grow academically, spiritually, socially, and personally.

    Before joining the Academy of St. Matthias the Apostle as Principal in July 2025, Dr. Streat served as Assistant Principal of Annunciation Catholic School in Washington, D.C., from 2018 through June 2025. Throughout her career, she has remained committed to instructional excellence, servant leadership, student-centered decision-making, and building strong partnerships among school, home, parish, and community.

    Dr. Streat believes that every child is uniquely created by God and deserves to be known, supported, challenged, and loved. Her leadership emphasizes high academic expectations, meaningful faith formation, consistent communication, safe and welcoming learning environments, and opportunities for every student to grow into the person God calls them to be.

    As Principal, Dr. Streat is committed to supporting faculty and staff, strengthening family partnerships, honoring the cultures represented within the school community, and ensuring that decisions remain focused on what is best for students.

    Under her leadership, the Academy continues its mission of forming students who are Rooted in Faith and Growing in Excellence.
