Tuition, Fees & Financial Aid

It is important to note that last year 86% of school families received financial assistance.

Payments may be made in 11 installments when the first payment is received by July 25.

Tuition & Fees

Tuition and fees at the Academy of Saint Matthias the Apostle are established by the Pastor in consultation with the Parish Finance Council and the School Advisory Board Finance Committee.

It is the expectation of the Academy that all families honor their financial obligations to the school in a timely manner. Tuition and fees support the academic, spiritual, and operational needs of the school and allow the Academy to fulfill its Catholic mission.

Tuition Rates: 2025–2026 School Year

The Academy of St. Matthias is committed to providing a high-quality Catholic education while keeping tuition as affordable as possible for families.

Tuition reflects only a portion of the true cost of education. The remaining cost is supported through fundraising, extended care programs, cafeteria services, donations, grants, and parish support.

PK3-4 - $7,800 K-8 - $8,900

Payment Plans

Payments are managed through FACTS Tuition Management. Payments may be made via bank withdrawal. Credit card payments are accepted and may include a convenience fee.

Families may choose from the following tuition payment options:

  • Annual: One payment due in July

  • Semi-Annual: Two payments due in July and January

  • Monthly: Ten payments from July through April

Tuition Payment Policy

Students may not begin the school year unless tuition and fees are current. Report cards, progress reports, standardized test results, and transfer records will not be released until all accounts are paid in full.

Students whose tuition is more than 30 days delinquent and who have not communicated with the school may not be permitted to continue attending classes. The Academy of St. Matthias the Apostle reserves the right to cancel enrollment if tuition and fee obligations are not met.

Financial Aid

Archdiocese of Washington works hard to keep Catholic education as affordable as possible. The Archdiocesan Tuition Assistance Program is available for students in grades PreK-8 who are applying to St. Mary of the Assumption School.

All tuition assistance obtained through the archdiocese is based on financial need. Families must apply each year to receive assistance and need must be demonstrated each year to qualify. Applying for tuition aid has no bearing on whether a student is admitted to St. Mary of the Assumption.

Boost Scholarship

BOOST is a State Maryland Program, enacted in 2016, to ensure lower-income students could afford the K-12 education best fit for their needs. BOOST provides scholarships to eligible students to enable them to attend a nonpublic school.

Now in its second year, Maryland’s BOOST Scholarship Program will provide nearly $6 million in scholarships in the upcoming school year to eligible K-12 students toward tuition at a qualifying nonpublic school of their choice.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

FUNDRAISING

Families are expected to support the school’s annual fundraising efforts.

  • Students raise money from families and friends through the annual Fun-d Run and the annual Read-a-thon.

  • Parents are required to sell 30 raffle tickets at $10 each.

  • Sales begin in November and end on February 1. Parents are encouraged to sell their tickets before and after the weekend masses.

  • Parents are encouraged to make a small donation to the Annual Appeal in May.

PARENT SERVICE & STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM

In an effort to keep tuition and fees manageable, the Academy requires family participation in the Parent Service & Stewardship Program. Parent volunteer service is viewed as an expression of stewardship and shared responsibility that strengthens the partnership between families, school, and parish.

Annual service hour requirements are as follows:

  • Dual-parent families: 20 hours per family

  • Single-parent families: 10 hours per family

Service hours may be fulfilled through school- and HSA-approved activities, including events, classroom support, and approved leadership roles. Service hours are tracked through Track It Forward and must be approved by designated school or HSA personnel.

Families who do not complete the required service hours by the published deadline will be assessed $20 per unserved hour, billed through FACTS, up to the annual family maximum.
